Dr. Hisham El Kholy is the board member of one of the leading specialized hospitals in Egypt. He has been an esteemed professor of Anesthesia at the Cairo University Medical School since 1995, and for 35 years, a veteran of the healthcare industry in Egypt. His achievements include being the former General Manager of Dar El Fouad Hospital – the only hospital in Egypt and Africa that has been accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) for four successive terms. He was also the CEO for Investment in the AMI Company at Dar Al Fouad Hospital, Nasr City; the Chairman of the Medical Council, the Head of the Neuro-Anesthesia Unit, and the Head of the Pre-Opening Clinical Committees collectively at the Dar Al Fouad Hospital in Egypt.
As the Professor of Medicine and Hepatology, and the Dean Emeritus of the National Liver Institute (NLI) in Egypt, Dr. Imam Waked has a reputed journey of achievements. Having graduated from the Cairo University School of Medicine and obtained a Master’s degree followed by a Doctorate degree in Medicine from the Ain Shams University, Dr. Waked also trained in the liver unit of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and chaired the Hepatology department at the NLI in addition to being the NLI’s Dean from 2008 to 2011.
Dr. Waked has accomplished more than 90 peer-reviewed publications in international and local journals. Additionally, he has supervised more than 80 Master’s and Doctorates thesis in hepatology and medicine. Currently, he heads the Clinical Trials Unit at the NLI, and is a Principle Investigator in several clinical trials for HCV treatment and HCC management. Dr. Waked is a valued board member of the Egyptian National Committee for Viral Hepatitis that oversees the Egyptian National program for management of hepatitis C. His fields of interests include acute and chronic hepatitis C, and related liver cancer as well as portal hypertension along its complications.
Dr. Sherine Helmy has acquired 37 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Throughout these years, he was appointed as the CEO of Pharco Corporation and the board member of Batterjee Pharmaceuticals in KSA as well as Pharco Impex in Romania. Additionally, he was the Consultant of SEEG Pharm in Switzerland and Presidio Pharmaceuticals in USA, which had discovered a new HCV drug. As the CEO of Tharawat for Resources and Mining and the board member of Royal Resources for Oil and Gas, Dr. Helmy has carved a respected name for himself in the medical field besides his esteemed educational history.
Dr. Helmy graduated in 1981 with a BSc degree from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University. In 1995, he set off for an MBA after realizing the value of adding academic experience to his professional record. He stated, “I can confidently say that the MBA played a significant role in better understanding business practices.” In 2008, Dr. Helmy began his DBA at AAST in Alexandria, which was an additional step towards excelling in the business world.
Dr. Helmy is part of many organizations and institutions that contribute to the development of the education, pharmaceutical industry and the economic growth of Egypt. He is a member of the Board of Trustees in Egypt Japan University (EJUST) as well as a board member to several entities, including the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), the Alexandria University, the City Advisory Council of Zewail City for Science and Technology (CAC), the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC), the Scientific Research Committee of Alexandria University, the Strategic Advisory Board of AUC’s School of Business as well as School of Sciences and Engineering, and the founding member of North Coast University.
Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby is a prominent banker with more than 35 years of experience in the banking field. In recognition of his great achievements, he was appointed as the Chairman of Banque Misr in January 2015. Prior to Banque Misr, he was the CEO and Managing Director of Egyptian Gulf Bank from January 2013 to December 2014. He currently serves as the Chairman of Banque Misr Liban (BML), in addition to being a board member in Cairo Amman Bank and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees in the Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development. Mr. El-Etreby is also a board member to several entities, including the Federation of Egyptian Banks (FEB), Egyptian General Company for Tourism & Hotels (EGOTH), Misr Insurance Holding Company, General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), and Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) as well as the Central Bank of Egypt.
Ms. Nevine El-Tahry has an extensive experience in the financial and business industries. In 1994, Ms. El-Tahry established one of the first brokerage firms, Delta Securities Egypt, among many others. She is the Chairperson and Managing Director of Delta Shield since 2008, where her main focus lies in consulting Family Businesses. Additionally, she is the Chairperson and Managing Director of 138 Pyramids and the newly established Delta Inspire firm, which specializes in incubation and acceleration activities.
Ms. El-Tahry is respectfully the first woman elected to sit on the Board of the Egyptian Stock Exchange for two consecutive terms from 1997 to 2003. She was the Country Representative of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and is currently a board member in the bank’s Middle East Advisory Board. She is also a board member to several entities, including the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA), the Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (MobiNil), the Arab Moltaqa Investments, and Regina for Pasta & Food Products as well as the Dean’s Strategic Advisory in AUC. Additionally, Ms. El-Tahry is an esteemed member of the Board of Trustees in the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), and a member of the Board of Directors in the Middle East Leadership Academy (MELA), as well as a valued member in many other non-profit organizations. In 2014, Ms. El-Tahry received an honorable nomination from Forbes Middle East as being one of the “200 Most Powerful Arab Women”.
